Allergy Testing Results for Mr Stud!!!

20150205_120139So today Gavin had some serious allergy testing done on his back.  He handled it really well.  They had to prick him 33 times and tested for food, animal, and plant allergens.  Gavin told us that it felt like “tickles” so we ran with that hehe.  I think the hardest part was waiting cause it lasted 15 minutes.  He had to lay on his belly, which he did so while laying across my lap.  They were so kind as to put a Stuart Little movie on so his wait wouldn’t seem so long.  Jay and I sat their looking at his back as it had markings and areas that swelled.  Eeek!  Ok, so he’s definitely allergic to something…or rather, some things.  I know we were doing this voluntarily to get some answers but I can’t but help and think about how mean we must have seemed, to him, to put him through this itching and possibly painful scenario.  Poor kid.  I mean some of those spots got really big.  Kinda like a really big spider bite.  The nurse came back in and realized that their was a spot in their that she didn’t know the answer to so she re-pricked him in a different spot and we had to wait another 10 minutes.   Thankfully by then he was into the movie and could stand to wait 10 more minutes.  But then, time was up so she wiped up his back and put some Eucerin Calming lotion on him.  We then followed her to another room where the doctor told us the results.  Ok, here goes…

He’s Allergic to 1. Cats. and not just allergic…highly allergic.  2.  Sagebrush, all types (weeds really).  And yes, highly allergic.  3. Eggs.  But not enough to cause him anaphylactic shock, just itchiness.   4.  Dust Mites.  In which he asked me if we ran a humidifier in the house and to stop doing so.  I told him I run a diffuser by his bed at night and he said “stop.”  He asked if we had carpet and I said yes and he said that the carpet grabs everything, and everything he’s allergic to and we needed to rework our system.  I thought and said “what does that mean?” and he then said you need to have “all wipe-able surfaces”.  After I stared at him for a minute he said “that means leather and wipe-able floors.”  Yeah about that, we have a 2400 square foot home that is primarily carpet.  Wowzers!!!  All I keep thinking is Cha-ching!  But we have to figure something out.  We have to help Gavin live a more fruitful life!  And whatever it takes, we as his Parents, we will have to pull it together and dig deep and help our baby boy breathe.  God Help US!!!  If their was any a time that we needed You, now is the time.  In a way it’s exciting to see what God will do coming forward.  I mean none of this was surprising to Him.  He has it figured out.  I gotta believe that!  And I do.  So come on Lord….Do your Best!  We are believing for a Miracle here.
